Our Pastor

Rev. Andre’ W. Milteer

Rev. Andre` W. Milteer is a native of New Bern, North Carolina.  He received his early education in the public schools of New Bern, N.C, and Philadelphia, PA. He furthered his education at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA where he successfully completed two undergraduate degrees (BA in Philosophy and BA in Black Studies); and a graduate degree (Masters in Library Science). Rev. Milteer also furthered his theological training at the Lutheran Theological Seminary (Urban Theological Institute) in Philadelphia, PA.

Rev. Milteer confessed Christ at the early age of seven at the Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church in New Bern. As a faithful member of Guildfield, he was an active member of the Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, and Youth Choir.

Rev. Milteer is also an accomplished musician. He received his early musical training from his band teacher in elementary school, and also from a local piano teacher in New Bern. After moving to Philadelphia in 1968, he furthered his musical studies at the Philadelphia Music Academy studying classical piano.

At the age of ten, he served as Minister of Music for two choirs in New Bern. He has also served as Minister of Music in churches in Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, and Atlanta, GA. He has devoted over forty years of service in church music ministry as he continues to use his musical gift even now as full-time pastor.

Rev. Milteer received the Call to the Ministry of the Gospel on October 27, 1988. He preached his initial sermon on January 15, 1989 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. He was ordained as a Baptist Minister by the Philadelphia Suburban Baptist Association at the Zion Baptist Church in Ardmore, PA on July 23, 1995.

Rev. Milteer came to Mt. Olivet in September 1995 and served faithfully as Administrative Assistant to the pastor for four years.  Upon the retirement of Rev. Roger P. Derricotte, the Church extended the call to Rev. Milteer to serve, as its eighth Pastor in the history of the church.

His knowledge of God’s word along with his experience in the ecclesiastical duties of ministry has greatly enhanced Mt. Olivet since his call to the pastorate.   New ministries have been established and a high-tech video system has been incorporated in the church which he uses in both his teaching and preaching ministry.  Mt. Olivet has grown spiritually, numerically, and financially under his leadership.

Some of his affiliations include: Northern Baptist School of Religion (Chairman of the Board), Baptist Minister’s Conference of Newark and Vicinity, General Baptist Convention of New Jersey, and the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.

Most importantly, Rev. Milteer is a born again servant of the Lord Jesus Christ who has a true love for people. He is a man with a vision for the future and one who is excited about the challenges of ministry in the twenty-first century.
